The beatitude into which the enlightened soul is delivered is something quite different from pleasure... Blessedness depends on non-attachment and selflessness, therefore can be enjoyed without satiety and without revulsion; is a participation in eternity, and therefore remains itself without diminution or fluctuation.

Temper your enjoyments with prudence, lest there be written on your heart that fearful word "satiety."

There is no sense of weariness like that which closes a day of eager and unintermitted pursuit of pleasure. The apple is eaten and the core sticks in the throat. Expectation has given way to ennui, and appetite to satiety.

Love dies by satiety, and forgetfulness inters it.

Satiety comes of too frequent repetition; and he who will not give himself leisure to be thirsty can never find the true pleasure of drinking.

Extremes, though contrary, have the like effect; extreme heat mortifies, like extreme cold; extreme love breeds satiety, as well as extreme hatred.

God is day and night, winter and summer, war and peace, satiety and hunger.

There is satiety of all things, of sleep and love, of sweet song and the goodly dance.

Dull satiety blunts all eagerness of expectation.

White men should exhibit the same insensibility to moral tortures that red men do to physical torments.
