Could the young but realize how soon they will become mere walking bundles of habits, they would give more heed to their conduct while in the plastic state. We are spinning our own fates, good or evil, and never to be undone.
But it is the bane of psychology to suppose that where results are similar, processes must be the same. It does not follow, because our ancestors made so many errors of fact and mixed them with their religion, that we should therefore leave off being religious at all. Inequality is as dear to the American heart as liberty itself.
