Atharva Veda, or Atharvaveda

Sacred Text of Hinduism and One of the Four Vedas meaning "knowledge"

"Social classes, races, Muslims and Hindus; beasts, birds and the many varieties of beings and creatures; the entire world and the visible universe - all forms of existence shall pass away."

"Some chant in meditation, some practice deep, austere meditation; some worship Him in adoration, some practice daily rituals. Some live the life of a wanderer."

"Stand on your strength. Be unmoved, either by adulation or denigration. Follow My lead. I am unaffected by either; I march on alone, undeterred and of My own accord. I am My own Guide and Witness; have full faith in this."

"Some live by the shore, some live on the water; some study the Vedas."

"Society cannot progress unless each citizen make his contribution and performs his duties."

"Stay away from evil deeds and indulge in virtuous ones, surrender totally to the will of God. A man, who acts thus, is inevitably blessed with immortality."

"Strive to secure Grace; do not strive to secure any lesser fruit."

"Stress upon the importance of virtuous living free from any kind of sinful tendencies."

"Some practice Yoga, some indulge in pleasures; some live in spiritual wisdom, some live in meditation. Some are bearers of the staff."

"Strive to move away from Untruth towards Truth; attempt to acquire knowledge of yourself and of the origin of all selves and thus shed your fundamental ignorance."

"Such is my love for the Lord of the Universe; through perfect good destiny, I have been united with Him."

"Success, peace and prosperity will always remain elusive as long as there is 'discord' but where there is 'unity' perfect harmony prevails there and nobody would dare to attack such a place."

"Superior am I, O superior (plant), superior, truly, to superior (women). Now shall my rival be inferior to those that are inferior."

"Such is the lifestyle of the faithless cynics; everything they do is evil."

"Talkative persons easily step into scandal mongering. Too much talk and a tongue addicted to scandal are twins; they work together and in unison."

"Sweet as honey is my entrance, sweet as honey my departure. With my voice do I speak sweet as honey, may I become like honey."

"That household is the happiest where all are satisfied and Content."

"Take hold of this (charm) that subjects to immortality (life), may thy life unto old age not be cut off. I bring to thee anew breath and life, not to mist and darkness, do."

"That charm which causes the gods not to disagree, and not to hate one another, that do we prepare in your house, as a means of agreement for your folk."

"That earth which formerly was water upon the ocean (of space), which the wise (seers) found out by their skillful devices; whose heart is in the highest heaven, immortal, surrounded by truth, shall bestow upon us brilliancy and strength, (and place us) in supreme sovereignty."

"That which is born has also to die; coming implies going; that which has no birth has no death either."

"That which pleases His Will has come to pass; no one else can do anything."

"The almighty God reveals his presence through Nature or in other words it can also be said that Nature is the 'visible' part of God and in the same manner vice versa is also true... both are inseparable... each being the extension of other. There is no distinction between the two and one is absorbed in the other."

"The Creator Himself has created the universe; He Himself shall destroy it."

"The discovery of Truth is the unique mission of man. Man is a mixture of Maya and Madhava; the Maya throws a mist which hides the Madhava."
